Day trip to Grand Teton National Park
June 2021
Grand Teton N.P. is such a beautiful park that we wanted to see it again. We wish we had had more than one day, but we had to drive almost 2 hours from our campground in Idaho. Too far to do more than once. We’d really like to see it in the fall. It was much more crowded this time around than during our visit 7 years ago in June. We think everyone is taking trips this year to make up for being stuck at home during last year’s Covid quarantine.
On our last visit, we took the ferry across Jenny Lake so we could hike to Hidden Falls and up to Inspiration Point. Great views! It was so crowded this year, plus we didn’t have enough time, so there was no way we could do that again.
We did get to the viewpoint at Schwabacher Landing, which we missed on our first visit, and walked a short trail there. We mostly just drove the park roads looking at the views!
We drove through the town of Jackson, but didn’t stop as traffic was quite busy. I did get a glimpse of the elk antler arches that are on the square.
We hope we can come back someday in the fall, when there’s fewer people (compared to summertime). Maybe then we can find a place to stay much closer to the park, so we can get there earlier in the morning for better photography opportunities.
