Georgia Gardens and Tennessee Waterfalls

Gibbs gardens, north of Atlanta
We didn’t stay long in Florida, because we didn’t want to miss the spring farther north. We headed first to Callaway Gardens, GA, which was a bit of a disappointment because we were too late for the big azalea bloom. We then visited Gibbs Gardens north of Atlanta, and that was beautiful! I hope we can come back another year in March when there are millions of daffodils blooming.
From there, we stopped in Chattanooga to “See Rock City” (just to say we saw it) and to see the view from Lookout Mountain. Overpriced for what it was. We continued north from there to Fall Creek Falls State Park. This park had several waterfalls: the main one, Fall Creek Falls, is one of the tallest east of the Mississippi. We did some hiking, too. Very nice park, except many of the campsites were not level at all. We had our automatic levelers on blocks, and the rig still wasn’t level. I don’t like that at all! One of the aspects of RV living I have to get used to, I guess!
All along the sides of the highways north from Tennessee into Kentucky and Missouri, we saw dogwoods blooming. Just beautiful! Our last stop in Tennessee was at Indian Mountain State Park. We stopped here because it had available sites that were long enough to fit our motorhome and “toad” (our car we are towing), and were glad we did. It’s small but pretty. We drove our car on a day trip to Cumberland Gap National Historical Park. The park straddles Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia. The panoramic view was breathtaking! We hiked a trail that followed the path of Daniel Boone and thousands of pioneers who crossed the gap on their way west. We also took a detour to Cumberland Falls about an hour away.
